SNCDPC to Hold April Pools Day Media Event on April 1
The event takes place at The City of Las Vegas Garside Pool, 250 S. Torrey Pines Drive. on Wednesday, April 1 / 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will include a demonstration of a simulated drowning and rescue.

Free Summer Safety Fair to be held simultaneously at public pools across valley
In collaboration with the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition (SNCDPC), Clark County and the cities of Las Vegas and Henderson will host a simultaneous Super Summer Safety Fair on Friday, May 30.

Remember water safety this Memorial Day weekend!
The Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the unofficial start of summer and with it comes the opening of swimming pools and other outdoor water activities.

 

 

2013 Drowning Statistics

  • 40 submersions (includes fatal & non-fatal drownings).
  • 83% involved children under 4.
  • 34 occurred in a pool - 65% residential/35% public (includes apt. & condo complexes).
  • 4 fatal drownings - 3 involved children 4 years old or younger.
  • Ethnicity/Race data: 8% Asian/Pacific Islander; 25% African American; 31% Hispanic; 36% White.
