NEWS – Near drowning call this afternoon in the northwest occurred in a back yard residential pool, family was engaged in swimming activities at the time, one of children either went into or fell into the pool, took in too much water, was retrieved by parents, was given CPR by parents and was breathing by time rescue arrived on scene. Was taken the hospital breathing to be checked out as with any near drowning incident. Captain on scene stated the parents knowing CPR made the difference. It is one of the A-B-C-Ds of drowning prevention, they had A-Adult supervision and C for CRP. B is for barriers and D is for prevention devices. FYI there will be a media event next Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. by the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition about the summer season coming up, April 1 is also April “Pools” Day to kick off safety awareness in Southern Nevada about drowning prevention.
